Suicide Prevention in Communities
The SPIC network
The Suicide Prevention in Communities network covers the Hinterland and Sunshine Coast, working with local people who are interested in creating more awareness around suicide and its impact on our communities. We are committed to exploring new ways to reduce the stigma and shame associated with suicide and we do this by supporting and partnering with key local people who are well connected and passionate about bringing change.
Everyone has a part to play in creating suicide safer communities and we'd love to have you join us. We endeavour to approach this work creatively with new ideas emerging all the time - we do:
-
Suicide Prevention Training
-
Host Events
-
Run Community Projects
-
Host community conversations
-
Encourage the establishment of non-threatening Safe Spaces to meet
We believe our history of not speaking openly about suicide has resulted in shame and guilt, therefore our antidote is promoting brave conversations and building strong connections.
If you have a lived experienced of suicide, I would love to connect with you as a crucial aspect of this work is hearing and learning from people with lived experience.
This activity is supported by funding from the Australian Government through the PHN Program
